The construction of the Talvivaara nickel mine's metal processing plant started in December 2007. The plant's capacity is 50 000 tonnes of nickel concentrate a year, and the total investment was circa 400 million euros. When the production capacity of nickel per year is as estimated, Talvivaara's production potential in 2012 will be ca 2.3% of the world's current annual production of primary nickel.

For Talvivaara, Fineweld Ltd delivered the metal processing pipelines, process lines, service lines, chemical lines and hydrogen sulphide lines. In addition, Fineweld installed the piping and equipment for the mine's hydrogen plant. The
specific quality requirements  of the hydrogen plant as well as the tight schedule made the project very demanding.

For the Talvivaara project Fineweld delivered a total of 500 tonnes of steel and 97 kilometers of special piping, of which 35 kilometers were plastic pipes. The total contract was worth ca 25 million euros.
